The Proctoring Expert course is a specialist training programme designed to train the figure of the Proctor (or Invigilator): the professional responsible for conducting the exam in all its aspects, from preparing the test environment to supervising candidates, through to managing critical situations during the examination.

Reference Standards

The teaching programme is structured in compliance with two fundamental international standards for the assessment and training sector:

ISO 29992:2018 — Assessment of learning outcomes — a standard that defines the requirements for the assessment of learning outcomes, with particular attention to the validity, reliability and impartiality of the examination process.

ISO 29995:2021 — Testing and assessment services for language learning — a standard that governs the requirements for testing and assessment services, with reference to the conditions of test administration, the role of the exam supervisor and operational procedures to be adopted in physical and virtual environments.

Course Contents

The programme imparts the knowledge and operational skills necessary to carry out the activity of Proctor in compliance with international standards. The main areas covered include:

• Role, responsibilities and competency profile of the Proctor/Invigilator
• Logistical requirements of the examination environment: accessibility, suitability of spaces, room management
• Technological requirements for in-person and remote proctoring: hardware, software, connectivity and exam management platforms

• Management of irregularities, non-conformity cases and complaints
• Protection of privacy and candidates’ data
• Principles of fairness, impartiality and accessibility in the conduct of examinations
