The DigCompEdu certification attests to the digital pedagogical competence level of teachers and trainers, based on the European framework developed by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre for educators at every level of education. Issued by Intertek Italia, an Accredia-accredited body under ISO/IEC 17024, it is recognized nationally, across Europe, and internationally.

The exam is written, multiple-choice, and proctored: up to three progressive tests of 44 questions and 45 minutes each, with a 75% passing threshold, covering 6 proficiency levels from Newcomer (A1) to Pioneer (C2).

Description

The European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators (DigCompEdu) is a scientifically sound reference framework describing what it means for educators to be digitally competent. It provides a general reference frame to support the development of educator-specific digital competences in Europe. DigCompEdu is aimed at educators at all levels of education, from early childhood to higher and adult education, including general and vocational education and training, special needs education, and non-formal learning contexts.

The DigCompEdu certification attests to the level of ā€œdigital pedagogical competenceā€ of teachers and trainers, across six proficiency levels from Newcomer to Pioneer. It is issued by Intertek Italia, an international certification body accredited by Accredia under ISO/IEC 17024.

What it certifies

The DigCompEdu model identifies 22 competences organized in 6 areas:

  • 1Ā  Professional engagement
  • 2Ā  Digital resources
  • 3Ā  Teaching and learning
  • 4Ā  Assessment
  • 5Ā  Empowering learners
  • 6Ā  Facilitating learners’ digital competence
How the exam works

The exam is structured into three progressive tests of increasing difficulty, each made up of 44 multiple-choice questions (4 answers, only one correct) to be completed in 45 minutes. Each test covers all 6 areas of competence. Scoring at least 75% correct answers unlocks the next test.

  • āœ“Ā  First test: Newcomer (A1) and Explorer (A2) levels
  • āœ“Ā  Second test: Integrator (B1) and Expert (B2) levels
  • āœ“Ā  Third test: Leader (C1) and Pioneer (C2) levels

If a candidate does not reach 75% in a test, the exam ends with the level achieved in that test. In the first test, candidates must answer all questions and reach the minimum threshold of 25% correct answers. The certification is valid for 4 years.
