Description
The AI for Workers certification attests to the minimum, progressive, and contextualized skills of people who use artificial intelligence systems to support their work, while keeping human judgment, accountability, and compliance with organizational rules. It is aimed at working users in the private sector and public administration, not at AI designers or experts.
The AI for Workers framework identifies 3 areas of competence:
- 1Ā Technical skills in using AI: AI fundamentals, prompting and applications in work tasks, AI-assisted workflows
- 2Ā Autonomous and productive use of AI in the workplace: informed use, human oversight and accountability, contribution to organizational culture
- 3Ā Ethics, compliance, and responsible use: everyday ethics, data security and protection, AI Act and GDPR principles, ethics by design
The exam is a single test of 45 questions with multiple-choice answers (4 options, only one correct), to be completed in 45 minutes. Questions cover the competences described in the framework and are differentiated across the three proficiency levels. No entry requirements apply.
- āĀ Acquire (informed user): uses authorized tools for simple tasks, protects data and information, verifies outputs
- āĀ Deepen (process-competent user): integrates AI into recurring tasks and assesses output quality and risks
- āĀ Create (improvement facilitator): helps redesign AI-assisted workflows and promotes responsible use within the team
For each area, the level depends on the score: below 50% Acquire, from 50% to 74.99% Deepen, from 75% Create. The final level comes from the average across the three areas, and the certificate shows the level reached in each. With an average of 25% or lower, the certification is not issued.
- āĀ Attests the ability to use AI as a support tool while keeping human judgment and accountability
- āĀ Covers AI literacy topics, from Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 (AI Act) to the GDPR, at user level
- āĀ Applicable to private companies, public administration, schools, professional firms, and self-employed work
- āĀ The certificate shows the level reached in each area of competence, useful to guide further training
Who it is for: employees and collaborators, public administration and school staff, professional firm staff, and self-employed workers. It is not a certification for AI professionals, whose profile is defined by standard UNI 11621-8:2026.
